My question is to the Minister for Public Transport in the other place. Wimmera rail is a project that I have been a huge advocate for over many years, and I thank the minister’s office for organising a briefing by the department for me recently. It was very insightful and gave me some reasons why Wimmera rail is not on the government’s priority list, much to my dismay. However, my office has on three separate occasions tried to obtain information from the department about why we cannot share this information with the community. Unfortunately, I have heard nothing. The information included train movements of the Overland, current bus services in lieu of rail and additional infrastructure that would need to be put in place. There are clearly barriers that are inhibiting the return of Wimmera rail, but it is only transparent for the community to know what these barriers are. Given that lack of transport is clearly a problem for these communities, they deserve to know what is stopping the return of Wimmera rail. Minister, will you ask your department to give my office this presentation and information so that I can share it with the Wimmera community?
