Mr GRIMLEY (Western Victoria) (13:04): My question is to the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events. Western Victoria houses some of Australia’s best natural assets, including the Twelve Apostles. A dedicated Twelve Apostles trail could provide a much-needed lifeline for jobs and businesses which are beginning to trade again after forced COVID-19 closures. Corangamite Shire Council has called on both the federal and state government to fast-track funding for a dedicated trail. At the council’s March meeting councillors said that the commonwealth and state governments could transform stage 1 of the trail from Timboon to Port Campbell into a regional stimulus package. This would greatly improve the visitor experience and provide a vital link from the hinterland to the coast
My question is: can the minister provide any insight into whether the Andrews government is considering fast-tracking funding for a dedicated Twelve Apostles trail to help rehabilitate tourism within the region?
