Mr GRIMLEY (Western Victoria) (13:46): I rise to dedicate today’s members statement to the work of Bruce and Denise Morcombe. I am proud to stand here today to celebrate the 15th birthday of the Daniel Morcombe Foundation, which began on 4 May. Bruce and Denise Morcombe have stated how proud they are of being able to continue to keep kids safe in memory of their son Daniel. To be able to create such a wonderful foundation helping to keep kids all over Australia safe is nothing short of amazing. They are very proud to continue to educate children about personal safety while continuing to provide support to kids impacted by crime. As Bruce and Denise said: As we blow out our birthday candles, our one wish is to make Australia a safer place for all children. Derryn Hinch’s Justice Party has a long history of supporting the Morcombes. Derryn himself has regularly travelled to Queensland to participate in the Day for Daniel, which Ms Maxwell and I also attended last year. What the Morcombes have been able to achieve over the past 15 years since this incredible foundation was born is inspiring, and I am so proud of their courage, dedication and tireless work. I wish the Daniel Morcombe Foundation a very happy 15th birthday, and as a father myself I hope the Daniel Morcombe Foundation continues its valuable work well into the future. Happy birthday, thank you—your foundation is vital in ensuring that our kids are kept safe. This tie here is from the Daniel Morcombe Foundation. It is beautiful; go to their website and check it out.
